Using Smart Reply

Streamline two-way communication with simple response options and organized response tracking.

Written by Carrie Romesburg

Smart Reply allows you to add numbered response options to SMS Broadcasts, making it easy for contacts to reply quickly with a single number. For example, contacts can reply 1 for Yes, 2 for No, or 3 for Maybe.

Smart Reply responses are automatically grouped in your Broadcast analytics, so you can quickly review and track responses by option.

How to Use Smart Reply

  1. Navigate to Broadcasts.

  2. Click Create Broadcast.

  3. Select your recipients by choosing a Group or applying filters.

  4. Draft your Broadcast message.

  5. Select Append Smart Reply.

6. Add your Question Type (Yes/No, Multiple Choice, Open Ended, Photo) and Response Options. You will also be able to set a Reply window (2 hours, 6 hours, 12 hours, 1 day, 2 days) and determine the Notification Users of this Smart Reply. Selected users will receive an hourly email update whenever new responses come in, plus a final summary when the Smart Reply expires.

7. Send or schedule your Broadcast.

What Contacts Will See

Contacts will receive your Broadcast with numbered reply options. They can respond directly by texting the number that matches their answer.

Viewing Smart Reply Responses

  1. Navigate to Broadcasts.

  2. Open the Broadcast you sent with Smart Reply.

  3. Scroll down to the Analytics section and click View Details.

  4. Review responses grouped by reply option. You’ll be able to see how many contacts replied with each option.

You can export this information from the platform as needed.

Best Practices

  • Keep response options simple and easy to understand.

  • Use Smart Reply when you need quick feedback, confirmations, availability checks, or simple polling.

  • Avoid adding too many options. We recommend using 2–5 choices when possible.

  • Make sure each numbered option is clearly tied to one response.
