Using Udext AI

Your AI-powered assistant, built right into Udext

Written by Carrie Romesburg

Udext AI is an AI agent that can handle a wide range of client-communication tasks on your behalf — from pulling reports to summarizing conversations to drafting messages. Account Owners can turn it on from Settings → Udext AI.

What is Udext AI?

Udext AI understands natural-language requests, so you can simply describe what you need instead of clicking through multiple screens. It's built to help you move faster on the day-to-day tasks that make up account management.

What You Can Ask Udext AI to Do

  • Broadcast performance — find out which broadcasts performed best and what they had in common

  • Contact engagement — identify low-engagement groups or contacts who've gone quiet

  • Performance comparisons — compare metrics like deliverability or click rates

  • Communication summaries — get a quick summary of recent inbound messages

  • And more!

How to Use Udext AI

  1. Open Udext AI from the lefthand sidebar

  2. Click New chat to start a conversation, or pick up a past one from your chat history

  3. Type your request, or select one of the suggested prompts to get started

Good to Know

  • Udext AI must be turned on by an Account Owner from Settings → Udext AI before your team can use it.

  • Udext AI runs on a separate credit pool from your SMS, MMS, and voice usage, and from the rewrite/compose tool in Broadcasts — using Udext AI doesn't draw from those.

  • Your workspace data is not shared with AI providers for training.

How Udext AI Credits Work

Every account includes 100 Udext AI credits per month as part of your subscription. Usage is shared across your whole organization, and you can track it anytime from the usage bar in the Udext AI panel or under Billing → Udext AI Usage.

  • Most simple requests — a quick fact-lookup or count — use 1 credit.

  • Requests that require more work to answer, like a multi-part analysis across several metrics or a long date range, can use more.

  • You'll get a heads-up once you're close to your monthly limit.

  • Need more credits? Reach out to your Udext team to increase your limit.

Best Practices

  • Ask one focused question at a time. Specific requests are both faster and more credit-efficient than broad, open-ended ones.

  • Bundle related questions into a single message when you can — for example, "How many contacts opted in last month, and which groups grew?" instead of sending those as two separate messages.

  • Start a new chat when you switch topics. Follow-up questions in the same thread are efficient, since Udext AI already has the context — but a long thread that wanders across topics uses more credits because it references the full conversation each time.

  • Narrow your request. A shorter date range or a single group/metric goes further than asking Udext AI to analyze everything at once.

  • Review AI-drafted responses. Udext AI can make mistakes, so make sure to check important information

  • If a request doesn't go through because you've hit your limit, wait for your quota to reset rather than repeating the request right away.
